     My journey into the alchemical path of health, fitness, and healing began when I was born under the sign of Cancer on a hot summer night on a pristine island in the Caribbean, called "Boriquen" by the Taino Indians.  

     Severely punished for not wanting to go to school at the age of five, I almost died of "susto".  I developed "paralytic illeus" - a condition in which you cannot digest the food you eat. The doctors sent me home to die, but my surrogate mother took me to a "Curandero" or Shaman who brought me back to life.

     I healed in such a way that I've come from not wanting to go to school to becoming a lifelong, passionate learner excelling and graduating with High Honors.  I've received the title of Professor Emeritus after retiring from the California University System. I taught there for 18 years, teaching 12 health-related courses and co-creating the Department of Health Science, which later became the School of Public Health.

     For the last 40 years, I have pursued formal education and training in the Art of Healing. My focus is not only of the physical, but the mental, spiritual, and metaphysical aspects of health and wellness, which is why I became a Holistic Health Practitioner.
